About Dr. Taylor

Dr. Linda Taylor received her degree in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. She later studied medicine in Southern California at Western University of Health Sciences. After graduation from medical school, Dr. Taylor served as a psychiatric intern at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York.

Dr. Taylor was then trained in psychiatry at Columbia University in New York City, where she served as a Post-Doctoral Residency Fellow for three years. The Columbia program is distinguished by its strong emphasis on individualized and broad-based psychotherapeutic approaches. Columbia-trained psychiatrists are taught to understand each patient on a neurobiological, psychological, and social level. Great care is taken to formulate a complete diagnostic impression, providing a wider spectrum of treatment interventions and a greater rate of positive outcomes.

During her fellowship, Dr. Taylor also served as a consult liaison at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center at Cornell University Medical College in New York. Dr. Taylor’s experience with psycho-oncology continues to influence her treatment of patients who present with personal and family illness, grief, loss, death, and dying.

Dr. Taylor also studied Addiction Psychiatry at Smithers Alcoholism Treatment Center on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Through an empathic and respectful approach to treatment, Dr. Taylor cared for individuals and their families through their recovery process.

In November of 1996, Dr. Taylor received her board certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She has been practicing psychiatry for over 20 years and has been a member of the Travis County Medical Society since 1995. She is also a member of the Austin Psychiatric Society and served as president from 2001-2002.

Dr. Taylor also holds an MBA from Golden Gate University, a private university located in the heart of San Francisco's downtown financial district.
